About Nick

Who the hell is Nick?

Hello, my name is Nick. I'm cycling in the Manchester 100 and raising money for Joining Jack.

(I know I look gorgeous, don't I?)

Anyway, I'm raising money for Joining Jack after becoming aware of the charity following Sam Tomkins' salute to the television cameras during Wigan Warriors' match against St Helens during the 2012 Super League Magic Weekend. I can honestly say I was too pissed to notice the Castleford team, and Warrington's Joel Monaghan, Lee Briers and Stefan Ratchford link their fingers in support of Joining Jack on the first day of the weekend while I was there. Oops!

After a late night, and even later wakeup call, I came to my senses just as the final Magic Weekend kicked off, and it was afterwards I discovered the story behind Joining Jack. As it typical of the Rugby League community, it quickly rallied around Andy and Alex Johnson, and their four-year old boy Jack.

The charity gained the support of a few memorable Rugby League faces in Paul Sculthorpe, Kris Radlinski, before catching the imagination of Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs from Coronations Street), actress Lucy Jo-Hudson, and the man of 2012, Bradley Wiggins.

Through gaining awareness of the Joining Jack charity from the Rugby League fraternity, and finding the need for something to look forward to following the recovery of a hamstring tear, I took the plunge and decided to take up the challenge of riding in the Manchester 100.

Team JJ100

I will be joined by over 500 riders all raising money for Joining Jack, contributing a minimum of £100 each through donations and sponsorship. That equals a minimum of £50,000 which will be donated to Joining Jack.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a disease without a cure, and by sponsoring me to put my body through 100 miles of saddle sores and chafing, you can help make a difference and enabling Joining Jack to help find a cure for DMD.

Sponsoring me couldn't be easier. By clicking on my Just Giving page, you can make an online donation which will go directly to Joining Jack.

If you don't want to sponsor me individually, you can make a quick donation directly to Joining Jack by accessing their own Just Giving page.
